“MTV is looking for girls willing to shed the pounds (30-80 lbs), become a model and win $100,000!” reads the casting call announcement on MTV’s Web site.

“We are looking for girls with a great attitude, a pretty face and the endurance to sweat off the pounds during a 3 month boot camp style show,” the announcement reads.

Unbelievable.

The show hasn’t been given a green light. Yet.

I am very careful about using exclamation points when I type emails at work. I don’t want people thinking I’m too excited about checking their voicemail and/or running their errands, but at the same time I don’t want to come across as ungrateful for my job.

Example:

Dear Colleague,

The following is a list of phone messages that came for you yesterday:

One of my biggest beefs with Midwest dialect? It’s PIC-TURE not PIT-CHER. There actually is something called a pitcher. You pour liquid from it. A picture is something you frame and place on your desk.

I just got a pleasant surprise: an afternoon to myself. No work. No puppy. No husband. What shall I do? I’m thinking of reading, trying out the new lens I got for my camera, napping and doing some research on summer school classes. Dusting and homework can wait, right?

2. i love the look of a full bookcase too much to ever want to give the books back.

i realize it’s dumb to spend money on books i’ll read once (you know, like self-made man) but i just don’t see myself really being able to hop on the library bandwagon.
